Who would've thought that trying to set a up a home business would be so hard... too many regulations and costs... unfortunately not enough money to make it worth my while :(
I'm feeling very disheartened by all it. The prospect of doing something that i loved for money made me so excited; i had planned everything out in my head, from the cupcakes i'd sell at the markets to the ads i'd put in the paper. Apparently it is just not meant to be...
How ridiculous is it that you have to have a double sink in your kitchen and another separate sink for washing hands, just so that you can make food to sell! More council red tape... I can understanding having to do a food safety course, but all the rest is just too much! Apparently, I'd also need a $500 a year public liability insurance, as well as $250 a year market stall insurance. No wonder there aren't more people out there trying to sell homemade food at markets! You can only do it if it's for a not for profit organization.
Oh well... looks like i'll just have to stick to making cakes for family and friends ( unless we win tattslotto and i can afford to follow my dream). Maybe one day i might be able to try again... it's just a shame that all the rules and regulations stop the "little people" from having a go.... :(
